Firm Introduction & Philosophy
In the beginning...
DTR Consulting Services, a general partnership was originally founded as "Design Technical Resources" (DTR) company in late 2002 with two business partners to provide quality technical resource services to Architectural/Engineering firms.
Later renamed, DTR Consulting Services opened its new office in February 2003 at 19th & T Street in Sacramento, California. Within twelve months, the office relocated to Rocklin, closer to one of its largest Architectural clients. DTR Consting Services incorporated in the state of California in August of 2005. DTR Consulting Services, Inc. now consists of two principals, an Associate in the Firm with a full complement of technical staff to provide the best technical services to our clients
In December 2007 DTR relocated to a much larger office in the heart of the Roseville business district.
In February 2003, the founder Thomas Berger left a full-time position as the Senior Associate/Office Director with the Sacramento Office of a national Architectural firm, after managing the office from an initial 4 employees to a staff of 26 in 2002, becoming the 4th most profitable office of nineteen offices nationally. Observing that most Northern California firms were struggling to find good senior architects, technical specification writers and seasoned construction administrators, he set out to develop a business plan to create a new company aimed at providing technical services to area architectural and engineering firms.
Today the firm has seven employees, two principals, an Associate in the Firm, two board members and three stockholders. The firm remains committed to grow its client base and expand its staff with employees eager to grow with the company. We have since provided services to over 30 architectural and engineering firms throughout the western United States. Our projects have ranged from under $1M to over $638M on a single project. Over the past 5 years, DTR Consulting Services has contracted work on over one hundred individual projects for a total combined construction cost of $3 billion dollars.
Our Philosophy...
Our philosophy has always been to provide our clients with unsurpassed technical consulting services through a thorough understanding of our client’s expectations, project needs, deliverable requirements, construction budgets and the building owner’s project requirements.
We strive to offer our services in a manner to instill trust and to allow our clients to be more efficient and profitable. This is a big thing from the core of our beliefs. If our clients can realize a savings, in both labor and expenses, by using our services then we have done our job well. By utilizing our knowledge and experience to bolster our client’s presentations, design constructability and construction bid documents, collectively we can increase your firm‘s value in the eyes of your clients and to limit all parties exposure to potential claims.
Through continual promotion of in-house professional development for all staff, ongoing educational activities and technology advances, we can bring to our clients cutting edge industry advances to our clients, bringing value to the project and protecting our clients from financial losses.
All staff is personally trained by the Founding Principal to understand their role in the Project Team. From the way DTR teams are assembled, trained, educated and scheduled for your projects, you can be assured we can serve you better than anyone else in the industry.
Thomas C Berger, Managing Principal.
