NEW San Francisco Area Office

DTR has established a San Francisco-North Bay Office to better serve our Clients in the San Francisco & East Bay areas. Overseeing this new office is John Guill, AIA, CSI, CCS, CCCA, SCIP a new “Associate in the Firm” with our firm.
John recently joined our team as a Senior Specification Writer/ Quality Control person with over 27 years experience Architectural experience. John regularly teaches a regular webinar series nationally with CSI and AIA. John has taught courses in Construction Contract Administration and Construction Specification writing at Sonoma State University’s School Construction Management Program since 2001.
John Guill, a licensed architect has recently been awarded with the prestigious honor of the Ben John Small Memorial Award from the National Headquarters of the Construction Specifications Institute. The Ben John Small Memorial Award is presented to a Professional Member who has attained special proficiency and outstanding stature as a specifications writer.

His experience ranges from an Architectural Project Manager, Construction Administrator to Construction/Program Manager, Contractor and Facilities Planning & Design Department Manager for a large Health Care Organization. Before founding DTR in 2002, he managed a very sucessful local A/E office part of a nationally ranked Architectural/Engineering Firm for firm projects in California. He continues to utilize his experience working with A/E clients, Facilities Managers and Design/Build Contractors providing technical support in a variety of professional services. With more than 300 projects and billions of dollars in construction experience, he continues to strive to make this firm the model of consulting firms. His current focus is on the building envelope, assisting clients in the selection of proper exterior skin wall and roof assemblies including roofing through proper details and specifications. He is also heavily involved in peer/ constructability reviews for many clients improving the bid documents to reduce RFI's, potential change orders and reduce the time A/E professionals expend needlessly in the construction phase. |

Gail D. BakerPrincipal in the FirmGail has 20 years experience working with Architects, Contractors and Facility Departments. As a Project Coordinator she has experience with facility planning, department moves, department/company expansions and contractions. Using her experience in the field to bring together multiple agencies and outside vendors and contractors together to facilitate individual functions andwhole department relocations with minimal interruptions in the day to day operations of her clients.
Her experience range from Executive Assistance in the Telecommunications and Healthcare industry to working hand in hand with Facilities Staff, Designers and Contractors to ensure her projects stay on schedule and within budget. She brings a wide range of experience in finance, managing office personnel, coordinating project teams to this team. |

John Guill, AIA, CSI, CCS, CCCA, SCIPAssociate in the Firm/ Senior Specification WriterJohn Guill, a registered architect, comes to our the firm with better than 25 years of architectural & engineering experience in a wide variety of civic, educational, and institutional projects for various government agencies as well as corporate & private clients. He joined DTR Consulting Services in late 2010. Guill utilizes his technical background and understanding to develop construction specifications, identify proper building materials/ products and offer quality control/coordination reviews of our client projects. His strong construction administration experience and architectural background offer a professional perspective on constructability and coordination issues to the Design team while his experience with numerous project-delivery methods and Building Information Modeling (BIM) are a resource for non-traditional delivery and procurement methods and integrated project design. He has received numerous awards & recognitions for architecture, building specifications and industry education, including honors by Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Coalition for Adequate School Housing (CASH) . |

Mike Rice, CSI, CDTPrincipal/ Senior Hardware ConsultantMr. Rice is a Past President of the San Francisco Chapter Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and a past Associate Principle with DTR Consulting Services. His work highly specializes in commercial door & hardware consulting with an emphasis on coordination issues between the construction industry and various disciplines (Project Architects, Electrical Engineers, Security and Fire Life Safety Consultants). Recently, he has partnered DTR Consulting Services in expanding his services to include detention hardware. Michael's new firm is Opening Consultants, Inc. Jointly, his projects numbered over two hundred buildings throughout the U.S., include health care projects (OSHPD), public & private schools/ universities, city & county projects; and high end Class A office building projects. Rice's experience in the field has assisted in retro-fit projects and coordination issues with contractors, saving our clients both time and money. |
